Our DockStar Flame Maple is professionally setup with low action and D'Addario 10-46 strings, and the frets are leveled and milled here at our shop in California for a nice smooth and clean feel all around.

Body
The fully hollow body with flame maple veneers on the front and back features a dual humbucker setup, with discrete split coil switches and a 3-way pickup toggle for 8 different tone combinations! There is one master volume and one master tone knob for dialing in your tone.  The guitar strings pass over a floating bridge that is not anchored to the guitar body. Similar to a violin, banjo or mandolin bridge, the bridge simply rests on top of the body and is held in place by string tension.  The ebony tailpiece is attached to the end of the guitar, holding the strings in place.  There is one 1/4" standard guitar output jack on the side of the guitar body.  We offer an optional custom hard shell case to go with the DockStar Flame Maple guitar.

Neck
The maple core neck is attached to the body using very strong wood glue.  The back of the neck contour is a C-shape that feels somewhere in between a strat and an LP neck, not too thin, and not too chunky either.  The 2-octave ebony fingerboard has 24 medium jumbo frets which are leveled and milled here at our shop in California for a nice smooth feel along the edge of the fretboard and all around.  The fretboard features a 15 inch radius which is perfect for soloing and playing chords up and down the fretboard.  Topping off the fretboard are custom pearloid inlays designed by PHRED instruments.  At the top of the neck, you'll find a bone nut for good sustain, and white binding all around the fingerboard for a clean look and feel.  The tilt-back 6-inline headstock shape is a PHRED instruments trademark design.  Under the fretboard is the adjustable double-expanding truss rod, keeping the neck stable in any climate.

Bad
Excellent
Well suited for a cranked TS-style stomp and a clean amp.
With nine different pickup combos, it's pretty easy to find variations on those classic Gibson sounds as well as tones for settings from Jimmy Nolen funk to creamy classic-rock leads. The DockStar's humbuckers might be just a bit hot for those who are purists about vintage humbucker tones - especially the bridge pickup. Interestingly, the extra bite reacted well to various overdrive and distortion pedals, but it lacks a little some of the airy character that I like in low-output humbuckers. The neck pickup has a unique roundness - evoking tones somewhere between Larry Carlton and B.B. King - that is especially well suited for a cranked TS-style stomp and a clean amp.

Dockstar "Caesar"
Absolutely stunning guitar with upgraded pick-ups, tuning keys, and a hard shell case. This guitar appears as stunning as it looks. The guitar plays as smooth as any rival top of the line instrument could offer, at a fraction of the cost! The tone possibilities seem endless...with up to eight different tones allows for tremendous musical styles. Great guitar, thank you!

Worth the wait
I couldn't be happier with my Dockstar! Putting aside the pure nerdy bliss of owning a replica of Trey Anastasio's guitar, it is just a damn fine instrument that is a joy to play. I upgraded to the the Seymour Duncan '59 pickups and the USA rewiring, and the result is phenomenal. The fret work and setup is fantastic. The 8 tonal options make this the most versatile guitar I own, although I can't get enough of it on the clean channel with a tube screamer for a little bit of bite. The only negative I can say is that you have to make sure you're mentally prepared for the wait as they are made to order. However, I can honestly say that my Dockstar was totally worth the wait. Thanks for a great guitar!
