Meet LDWs guitarist, Chuck Warda @chuckwarda. In the summer of 2013 a group of Portland, Oregon musicians got together around the love of Talking Heads music. Especially that of the epic 1984 concert film, Stop Making Sense, which they consider to be the most brilliant concert film of all time.
Matt Check, guitarist for Cosmic Karma, began his musical journey playing in his Father’s band at twelve years old. Learning at an early age to be part of a band and to let music breathe and flow, improvisation continues to be a powerful presence in Matt’s guitar playing. Some of his influences as a guitarist are Jerry Garcia, Bela Fleck, Larry Coryell, Allan Holdsworth, and the list goes on.
Born out of the love and inspiration of their favorite Band, Catfish John is a collective of serious players looking to express their affection and respect for the music of The Grateful Dead. They are artists giving a unique take on the music of The Grateful Dead. Catfish John performs raucous, intuitive, wide-open jams, with stunning guitar and tight vocal harmonies that compliment and complete their big full sound.

A friend suggested he listen to “the Grateful Dead’s rhythm guitarist Bob Weir, he’s different, I think you’ll like what he does.” Yup. Loved his work ever since. Saw the Grateful Dead for the first time a year later along with David Perkins (whom he still performs with in Gettin' Weir'd and Last Fair Deal ) along with a considerable chunk of their senior year classmates.
Josh Maxey is a musician and guitar teacher based in New York City. Josh’s music has been played all around the world on jazz radio and has received dozens of critical reviews. He counts his main influences as John Coltrane, Rodney Jones, Trey Anastasio and The Grateful Dead.
